New arrivals – vintage shop update

Hiya! Here’s a cool pile of mind-bending vinyl goodies to check out. Several nice original vinyl rarities and a few cool reissues. These titles are only listed here and not listed in our regular web-shop. Dig in!

WILLARD CANTELON – LSD – Battle for the Mind (Supreme  M 113 US 1966) LP Ex/Vg+ 490:-Totally over the top LSD scare album from 1966 with eye popping cover art. Nice copy only some seam spliting and slight writing on back cover. 

CHICKEN SHACK – Imagination Lady (Deram SDL 5 UK 1971) LP M-/Ex 450:-
Great original 1st UK pressing of this killer album. Just totally awesome guitars and heavily inspired so many bands like Alexander Lucas in Sweden for example. 

COSMIC FLIGHT INC. FEATURING ZACHORY CLARK – Terrestrial Fusion (Titus Turner Song Co. US)LP  M- 9900:-
Ultra rare and practically unknow and unique early 80s psychedelic folk funky real people private press. Original source says only 50 copies were ever pressed as a test production. Totally psychedelic, deep and soulful, trippy, outer space and recorded live on the front porch. Has amnazing break beat drums and effects making it a left field electro album too. Huge fave. Record was only played carefully a couple of times, but the pressing is sub-standard so there’s some surface noise and pops here and there as on all existing copies. As good as it gets.

BO HANSSON – Sagan om ringen (Silence SRS 4600 SW 1970) LP Vg+/Vg+ 600:-
Decent keeper copy of the absolute 1^st pressing of this ultimate Swedish psych classic from 1970. Rare and differs in many ways from later pressings. “The mix is different from the 2^nd (and most common) pressing. Tracks are a bit longer in general and as mentioned also mixed differently. Most notably, “Första Vandringen”, “Dom Svarta Ryttarna/Flykten Till Vadstället” & “Lothlorien” are each roughly 45-55 seconds longer on this version compared to later pressings”I Elronds Hus/Ringen Vandrar Söderut”, “Slaget På Pelennors Slätter” & “Hemfärden/Fylke Rensas” are also longer on this mix, between 15 and 30 seconds each. “Den Gamla Skogen/Tom Bombadil” is more or less the same length on both versions but a lot of bird singing, present on this first mix, has been removed on the second one. Back cover with red print, no credits & no SAM-distribution at the bottom.” Taped upper and lower cover seam.

Original 1972 1^st press. One of the classic must have Swedish 1970s psych album.

JADE STONE & LUV – Waiting (Jade US1977) 7” Ex 200:-
Cool non-LP promo only 45 from the psychedelic rock genius from Austin, Texas. 

KEBNEKAISE – Kebnekaise II (Silence SRS 4618 SW 1973) LP Ex/Vg+ 350:-
Original blue label Swedish original 1^st press. Slight writing on back cover.

KEBNEKAISE – Kebnekaise III (Silence SRS 4629 SW 1975) Ex/Vg+ 600:-
Original heavy duty Swedish original 1^st press. Most copies that are for sale as 21^st pressing are instead flexy later pressings. This is the real deal. Fantastic Swedish electric folk psych masterpiece. 

DENNISE NORWOOD – In The Skin With Me (Dennise Records DDA-101 US 1961) Ex-/ Vg+2900:-
Woooow! Here’s a very unusual and unknown private press record from what can only be described as another dimension. This goes deep and a huge personal fave. The turned-on pre-hippy/psychedelic beatnik skin-diver, nature boy/woman swinger scene out of Florida. Music has an amazing underwater theme and imaginary, with bubbling scuba effects and surreal femme vocal folky exotic trips. Nothing else quite like it. For those in the know; a small circle of the most diehard US psych private press collectors, it has also long been a very legendary record.   Vinyl plays great with just some light surface noise here and there and nothing that overpowers the music. The sleeve has slightly bumped corners and some age spotting. A chipping present on the top seams. Otherwise very nice and tidy.

TONY RANDALL (Imperial LP-9090 US 1960) LP Vg+/Vg 340:-
Is this the first electric, fuzz guitar psych LP? Released six years before both the 13^th Floor Elevators and The Deep’s Psychedelic Moods, this album contains a weird and stunning total acid psych track with a reverbed ragaish eastern mystic distorted guitar. Totally has the sound to come in spades. And the vocals are out to lunch. The track is Eden Ahbez legendary Nature Boy….and it’s a paradoy of it. A parody by Randall of the whole mystical pre-hippie nature boy style. So several years before the whole psychedelic hippie era broke through there was actually a killer parody song on the whole thing! Boggles the mind! It’s on this album anyhow and most don’t know it at all yet. Cover has seam split and some minor damage to the upper left corner.

ANGEL (Casablanca  NBLP 7021 US 1975) LP Ex+/Vg+ 360:-
Very nice original 1^st pressing of this pre-hair metal LA killer had rock album. Includes the picture inner sleeve.

ANGEL – Helluva Band (Casablanca UK 1976) LP Vg+/Vg 170:-
UK 1^st pressing. Disc is nice and plays great. Cover not to shabby either. The 2^nd one from this underrated hard rocker contains their heaviest track…the awesome “Mirrors”.

BUDDY COLLETTE – Man of Many Parts (Contemporary Records C3522 US 1956) Ex/Vg+ 350:-
Superb jazz LP but what takes this gem from 1956 over the top is the cut “Jungle Pipe” which is a total turned on exotic psychedelic trip. What was in that pipe man?

RAY MARTIN & HIS ORCHESTRA – Dynamica (RCA victor LSA-2287 US 1961) LP Vg+/Vg+ 250:-Another fantastic exotica gem. Awesome thick die-cut gimmick cover too. Seam split

Crazy wild exotica tiki guitar and bongo party. Seam split small sticker on back cover.

Wow! This actually copy is in fact from non other than Paul Page’s private record collection. Stamped by him on front and back. Seam split

SHORTY ROGERS – Afro-Cuban Influences (RCA Victor LSP-1763 US 1958) LP Vg+/Vg+ 350:-
What a fantastic album! Just like his Voodoo Suite this is amazing hard driving and sometimes mysterious afro Cuban exotica with fantastic drums and heavy pre-fuzz guitar horns. Wonderful! Copver has the usual but minor seam split.

TAK SHINDO – Brass and Bamboo (Capitol ST1345 US 1960) LP  Vg+/Vg 300:-
Another killer exotica album. Contains the incredible exotica version of Caravan among other goodies. 

YMA SUMAC – Mambo (Capitol T564 US 1956)LP  Vg+/Vg+ 550:-
Fantastic and very erotic exotic album! Wild afroo cuban beats with her otherworldly vocals on top. Pristine almost 70 year old cover with no ringwear only some seam split.

Huge fave way deep and psychedelic funk with killer keyboards like the haunting Mellotron. Awesome but very fragile gatefold silver foil sleeve always have lots of wear and this copy is no exception hence the VG grading for the cover. Got this precis copy way back in the 1990s from Paul Major.

One of a kind for sure! Garage garage and garage psych from another dimension….created in Argentina in 1968. Front cover has two small stickers upper right which I think are removable, but they contain such funny sales comments from a dealer I would keep them there. Split lower seam.

One of a kind psychedelic weirdness.

Obscure album of recordings from different time periods. Contains the monster psych masterpiece “Third Eye” plus more goodies like “Home of US All”. 

MILL SUPPLY (Crescent Street Canada 1971) LP Ex-/Vg+++ 450:-
A real psych sleeper album from Canada three-piece 1971 here. Killer and unusual tracks like “Satan”, “Voyage to Baghdad” and “Spider” makes it deep. Cover has DJ stamp on back.

CHILO MORAN – Rock en Mexico (DIMSA DML-8114 Mexico 1960) LP Vg/Vg 250:-
Loco Mexico rock n roll killer. Sample some of his “Mescal” for example. Ay caramba! Record plays great. Cover is nice too except for a sticker tear upper right front cover. 

THE ORDER OF ORPHEUS (Om Source 7083N14 US 1977) LP M-/Ex 1400:-
Total esoteric psychedelic impro private press master piece! Goes way way beyond. Perfect copy too. 

RICK SAUCEDO – Heaven Was Blue (Really Records RS-55-DGP US 1978) LP Ex/Vg++ OFFERS
Pretty much a perfect copy of this mega rare US private press killer. Vinyl just have a superficial marks and the cover only the slightest ring wear. Higher echelon one-of-those guys US private press psych. Way rare!

SOUTHERN COMFORT (London SHK 8405 UK 1969) LP Ex+/Vg+ 1900:-
Genuine original 1^st press of this unique album from 1969 with Martin Stone guitar charged long lysergic psych jammer. Has the original inner sleeve. Recorded when legendary Chicago blues harp player Walter ‘Shakey’ Horton visited the UK in 1968, Southern Comfort is a superb showcase for his talent, as well as those of bassist Jerome Arnold (Butterfield Blues Band), drummer Jessie C. Lewis (Otis Rush) and trailblazing guitarist Martin Stone (Savoy Brow and Mighty Baby). The album has part classy blues part zonked out experimental psych blues set, however, the epic closing track goes way further and is one of the most mind-blowing psychedelic workouts ever – recorded. The disc is Ex+ with one small superficial mark that doesn’t affect play. Some spindles on the labels due to their fragile nature and the label side B has a very light ballpoint pen name tag. The sleeve also looks great and presentable apart from some minor blemishes and a name signature on the back cover having been erased so that it’s “whited” out.

Way rare and fantastic Swedish late 60s outsider wonderama! Released by and on Åke Sandins own label.

One-of-a-kind Sunkit classic “Ta tablet”. It seems this one has always been quite rare and very desirable. Here’s a chance to get it now.

Perfect copy of rare Swedish xian femme kiddie weirdo wonder. This album is waaaaaay out there! Did I say it’s way-out stuff here? Yes! Huge fave.

Cool and and way obscure Swedish xian pop. Sticker on front cover.

Legendary Swedish 60s xian garage pop classic. Came with a press clipping from 1969 concerning some youths in a car accident. Not sure if it relates to the band but assume so. 

GIMMICKS – Ge mig mer (Polydor 2053 255 SW 1976) 7” Vg+/Vg+ 400:-
“Gillestuga” booze and mellis killer party banger from 1976. Awesome discotheque vibes the Swedish way.  Comes with the original Polydor bag.

Way cool and obscure Swedish loner xian teen pop band. Awesome sleeve too!

Another great obscure Swedish  xian teen pop band.

JOHN  THREE SIXTEEN – Så älskade gud världen (Kyrkoton EP 334 SW 1969) 7” Vg+/Vg 250:-
Cool and way obscure xian pop from 1969. The cover usually have ring wear and this copy is no exception.

KATARINA & KARIN – Sommar Vill Vi Ha / Mamma, Jag Är Färdig Nu (Odeon 4E 006-34278 M SW 1970) 7” Ex/Vg+ 300:-
Huge Sunkit classic of Swedish weirdness. Yikes….this one is sick. Slight writing and tear on front cover. 

RALPH LUNDSTEN – Jazza Å Gympa (Svenska Gymnastikförbundet  SGF 129 1974)  7” Vg+/Vg+ 360:-
In 1974 Swedish electronica wizard Ralph Lundsten makes a record for the Swedish Gymnastic Association to inspire kids to move around…kinda like Bruce Haack did too. Anyways this all turns out a totally tripped out monster record. Several tracks are total space out psych with hallucinatory flutes, electronica and killer drums galore. Monster time Swedish psych!

MUMS –  I stilla förtröstan (Evangeli Center ECS 208 SW) 7” M-/M- 150:-
Very cool and obscure Swedish xian psych pop with some great flute.

NEW CREATION – I Surrender All / I Recommand (Hemmets Härold FM 3020 SW 1970) 7” Vg+/Vg+ 280:-
Legendary obscure Swedish xian garage psych bands rare 45.

ANN-CHRISTINE SIMONSSON and KISA UNGDOMSKÖR – Jesus Bryr Sig Verkligen Om Dig! (Falk SW 1974)  7” Vg++/M- 300:-
Very scarce Swedish xian wonder from 1974. Disc is unplayed but has some dust from storage so graded as Vg++.

SIXTEN – Don’t stop the Music / Sjung hej allihopa (EMI 7C 006-35786 SW 1980) 7” M-/Vg+++ 490:-
Huge fave Sunkit classc from this genius from Åkland. Both sides are waaaay out there! 

SMU-TEAMET –  Jag Vet / Längtan Tillbaka (Cavatina S-695 SW 1969) 7” M-/VG+ 300:-
Cool Swedish xian teen pop. This is their best, rare and great one from 1969.

SMUSICS – The Smusics Spelar Och Sjunger (Signatur  EP 6804 SW 196+) 7” 120:-
More cool obscure Swedish xian teen pop.

ÖRN-KVINTETTEN – Gå bönernas bro (Celesta SW 1968) Vg+/Vg+ 160:-
Really great and obscure Swedish 60-s xian garage pop from Örnsköldsvik 1969. Slight tear on cover.

Exact re of ultimate boogie disco masterpiece. Perfect opening for a night of fun! As that psychedelic cross over vibe I crave too. Masterpiece!

Ultra cool PA, USA 60s garage rock psych comp of rare 45s issued way back 1990. 

DEEP PURPLE – Burn (Purple TPS 3505 UK 1987 re) LP Vg+/Vg+ 199:-
Nice copy of MKIII Purple at their debut and absolute best. What a fantastic album this is.

GERHARD HEINZ – Sex Fever / Die Insel Der Tausend Freuden (Vagienna VAG 1 Austr 2014 re) LP M-/M- 700:-
Limited and numbered 2nd press of this beauty. Pink vinyl. Includes the original vibrator (!) as issued with this release.

MOONKEES – Head (Rhino US re) LP Ex/Vg+ 120:-
Exact reissue including the silver foil cover. This album (and the movie) is a trip for sure!

MYSTIC SIVA (World in Sound RFR-002 G re) LP M-/M- 399:-
Limited long op exact deluxe reissue of this top US private press heavy psych king pin. One of my all-time fave for this scene. This is the original 1^st edition which features the superior original mix just like it is on the original album from 1971. Later pressings of this reissue has a modern re-mix which was done with good intentions but doesn’t work out any good.

WILLIAM ONYEABOR – Good Name (Luka Bop re) LP M-/M- 180:-
Exact reissue of ultimate and psychedelic Nigerian electro from the early 1980s. 

Incredibly enough, but very naturally, after 16-years silence the mysterious and legendary Swedish psychedelic multi-instrumentalist ST Mikael returns from the void with his new album Marine Mysteries. Check it out at ST Mikael’s Bandcamp (or Spotify, Apple Music etc)

Mikael who spearheaded the DIY psychedelic rock/folk movement of the late 1980s-mid-90s with a collection of unique albums that is now the stuff of legend.  The music, stretching out in many different musical directions, has been done freely and spontaneously in an extremely relaxed and happy environment. His otherworldly acid tripper recordings exist in the real world and ST Mikael proves to be a gifted songwriter and an unconventional performer with a very personal ear for acoustics and an emotional honesty. Folk rocky melodic elements flow with waves of heavy fuzz-phase leads, weird detached haunted vocal echoes over the music and the whole thing seems to teeter on the brink of psychedelic oblivion. Not revival either but purely of the now. You do get the feeling that Mikael actually lives the lifestyle rather than just emulating it. His soaring vocals, surreal lyrics, fragile, folky melodies, heavy fuzz riffs, mind bending soul funk and penchant for the spiritual and mystical make this altogether a fascinating voyage that is so mind twisting, soul swirling, upper psychedelic that your third eye takes you on a joyride thru an altered state!  The music makes your brain start thinking in those pebble splash pond mind circular expanding waveforms that people on this vibe await the returning ship their roots sent out to bring back the password to tomorrow.  A homage to LSD which helped him make the transformation possible.
