SAGOR & SWING – Rymdsonden (SUB-162-LP)
New album – release date October 9 – Pre-order now!
Rymdsonden (The Space Probe) – is the eight and final album from the legendary Swedish instrumental duo Sagor & Swing who fuse disparate musical genres such as psychedelia, space jazz, electronica, and Scandinavian folk music.
– What happens when humanity decides to contact life on Saturn… and chooses Sagor & Swing as musical ambassadors?
This final album functions both as an independent work and as a cohesive closing of a long artistic process. The album is accompanied by the publication Rymdsonden by Eric Malmberg as well as a free download link of the English language version The Space Probe. The combination of music and text creates a document of a long-term artistic practice and helps to put the work in context.
Sagor & Swing has worked consistently with the album format as an artistic form. The records are not individual productions but parts of a coherent structure where themes, sound worlds and motifs recur and are reshaped over time. The series can be considered a long form work where each part affects the whole.
The overall idea behind Rymdsonden is to complete this structure. The album contains musical flashbacks, motivic reflections and sonic references to previous works, but shaped through the experience and artistic language that has developed over the years. The mirror-symmetric principle – where the first and last albums relate to each other – is clearly implemented and concluded here.
The project is a conscious artistic rounding off rather than a continuation. In an era where music is often published as individual tracks and digital flows, Sagor & Swing wants to protect the album as a coherent work of art. Concluding the series gives the whole a form and makes it possible to consider it as a complete work of sound art.

“Orkesterns sista rymdvals (The Orchestra’s Last Space Waltz) was to be the last of its genre that Sagor & Swing recorded. It appeared on the legendary and extremely rare album Rymdsonden (The Space Probe), which was released in connection with a spectacular space project. Perhaps the orchestra knew when they recorded the waltz that it would be the last, because the melody is one long waving farewell. The Moog melody waves the most, but then both organ and strings come in and wave along, all the while as all sounds fade away and, in the end, nothing is heard anymore.
