En kärlekssaga med ett nyckfullt slut (A Love Story with a Whimsical Ending) is one of those teasing jazz waltzes that an orchestra records when there’s some extra time in the studio and the string section begins to improvise until everyone is in sync and a melody takes shape. Then the flute player fills in, and the organ finds a phrase to play between the main theme. Luckily, the producer Hans Fürst hadn’t turned off the tape recorder so in this way the peculiar jazz waltz is immortalised

En kärlekssaga med ett nyckfullt slut är en sån där retfull jazzvals som en orkester spelar in när det blivit studiotid över och stråksektionen börjar att improvisera tills alla synkar och en melodi tar form. Sedan fyller flöjtspelaren i och orgeln letar fram en fras som kan spelas mellan huvudtemat. Som tur är har producenten Hans Fürst ännu inte stängt av bandspelaren, så den egendomliga jazzvalsen blir på så sätt förevigad.
