ÌXTAHUELE: Pagan Rites (Subliminal Sounds 13 SW) CD NEW 109:-
From the mystical realms of a secluded ancient island, rising from the icy spray of the forbidden northern waters, comes the haunting, savage beat of a mysterious and primitive ritual. In this forgotten place, awash with wonder and enigma, echoing with the booming of sharkskin drums and bone rattles, the rock speaks with the voice of the gods. Weaving strange and terrifying tales, and tales of beauty and joy, Pagan Rites is a breathtakingly exotic tone poem that will make any Tiki bar come alive. More...
JOAKIM SKOGSBERG: Jola Rota (Subliminal Sounds SW 13 RE) NEW 220:-
The first official vinyl reissue of one of Sweden's greatest unknown psychedelic treasures from the 1970s. One time only limited pressing of 500 copies. From the original master tapes and with the original artwork, including previously unpublished archival pictures and liner notes. The album contains a mysterious, shamanistic and highly psychedelic “folk music” infused with incredible soundscapes of derailed fuzzed out violins, soaring guitars, rattling hand percussion, droning vocals and pulsating bass rhythms. Originally released in 1972, the album sold 300-400 copies and was then withdrawn and the reaming copies discarded making Jola Rota a much rumored and sought after Swedish droned-out and mesmerizing psychedelic artifact. The legendary Swedish musicians on this album include Pugh Rogefeldt, Göran Lagerberg, Mats Glenngård and Thomas Netzler. Don’t miss this one! More...

The debut album from Skogen Brinner is a wasted, slimy, speed freak vortex of polluted proto metal risen from a self-loathing nurtured by an increasingly greasy wasteland called Sweden. Wicked, toxic and manic rock, psychotic vocals, gnarly guitars, cavernous bass and drums beat to a pulp. A quick glare at the cover and you’re savvy on what it's about."The idea is probably to create rotten hard rock with a drive and without too many frills. Maybe you can compare us with a Z-grade flick: bad… but still damn good in a 'strange way." More
ANNAMY: Woodpecker (Subliminal Sounds SUB-094-LP) NEW 180:-
ANNAMY: Woodpecker (Subliminal Sounds SUB-095-CD) NEW 109:-
Vinyl LP limited edition of 500 copies. Spellbinding debut album of Swedish femme psych-folk-rock delight. Top notch song writing and stellar musicianship in a style reminiscent of the masters of the early 1970s; (like Fairport Convention, Pentangle, Mellow Candle, Trees, Comus, Vasthi Bunyan, CSN, Linda Perhacs and others). But yet AnnaMy performs in an unmistakable style all of her own that is both fully rooted in the now and timeless, and ultimately leaves any comparison futile. Full electric band setting with guitars, bass, organ, flute, cello, drums and percussion with Annas crystalline and heartfelt voice soaring on top. Electric guitar duties handled by the grand wizard of the craft; Reine Fiske. The AnnaMy band also consist of musicians from The Amazing, Dungen, Life on Earth!, Lisa o Piu, Anna Järvinen and many more. The band went in to the legendary Silence studios situated in the mysterious, deep and wintry forests of Koppom, Värmland . During the next couple of days recording the full album was committed to tape. I’d never been as extraordinarily productive, says Anna. Today I am no longer in the protected environment of the Värmland woods but in the hustle and bustle of my hometown Stockholm inner city, which can sometimes drive me crazy. Every song on her debut album ‘Woodpecker’ came to Anna when she listened to her deepest feelings and each song has its own story. What kind of feelings they might be are up to listeners to feel for themselves.
PSYCHEDELIA – An Ancient Culture, A Modern Way of Life
by Patrick Lundborg ( Lysergia 25-12 SW 2012) NEW 219:-
From the author of the groundbreaking and highly popular “Acid Archives” comes “Psychedelia”, a radical, profoundly mindblowing work. "Psychedelia" is the first book ever to present psychedelic culture in its full complexity and range. Out of a colorful history that spans 3.500 years emerges a culture and way of life as dazzling and rich as the psychedelic experience itself. The book presents psychedelia as a living underground culture, engaged in constant dialogue with its mainstream counterpart. Psychedelia's creative, visionary presence in art, rock music and pop culture is thoroughly examined, highlighting many unique and at times unknown works and traditions, from William Blake to Philip K Dick, from Eden Ahbez to Shpongle, from Haight-Ashbury to the beaches of Goa. The 20th century's misguided attempts to reduce psychedelia into a branch of psychology or religion are given a critical, sometimes controversial look. A case is made for a fresh, unprejudiced psychedelic philosophy to replace the failed interpretations of the past. As shown by this book, psychedelia is a celebration of life, both in the here and now and in the deep trip realms of inner-space. The final chapters describe the challenges and rewards of the psychedelic experience, as mastered by shamans and teachers from various entheogenic cultures. "Psychedelia" tells the story of an unbroken, alternative culture of the West, which began with the ancient psychedelic initiations at Eleusis, and today is the secret lifestyle of millions. 520 pages, 16-page color inlay, perfect bound small quarto. Release date November 26, 2012.
KEBNEKAJSE: Aventure (Subliminal Sounds SUB-092-CD) NEW 109:-
KEBNEKAJSE: Aventure (Subliminal Sounds SUB-093-LP) NEW 180:-
New twists on the new album with the groundbreaking Swedish folk rock band. Cult ban d Kebnekaise - known for their electrified folk music - refuse to play on nostalgia. On the new album ‘pieces to their musical mosaic. Nine new songs that build on the passion and joy of folk music, from the airy happiness and steady rhythm to the melodic melancholy, conjured by psychedelic folk rock. Aventure is Kebnekajses ninth album since their debut in 1971 and the third since returning in 2001. The last album 'Idioten/The Idiot' was nominated for a Swedish Grammy in 2012 in the category 'Best Rock'. - We live on as if we never had taken a brake. For us, music is not a museum piece that sounds the same every day. Our music stands for something that doesn’t stop, but continue to evolve. Says Kenny Håkansson the bands illustrious psychedelic guitar wizard with a history in such legendary Swedish bands as T-Boones, Baby Grandmothers, Mecki Mark Men and Dag Vag. The new album 'Aventure' was recorded in the legendary Silence studios in Värmland, Koppom with non other than Anders Lind behind the controls, at the beginning of the summer. The album contains five new discoveries from the Swedish folk music treasure and four new self-written. Kebnekajses distinctive and pioneering folk rock sound is as secure as the mountain itself. As in the initial Snickar-Anders (Carpenter-Anders) where heavy drums, percussion and double basses proud and challenging urge on distorted guitars and violin to purposefully play tag with an elusive Swedish folk melody. But the music is also allowed to take new and unexpected twists. A mandolin gives oriental pensive tone to Vallåt efter Britta Jansson (Grazing-ground Song after Britta Jansson). A Wild West guitar is accompanied by the now hilarious mandolin in Svartbergstrollen (Black Mountain Trolls), who effortlessly bounces between major and minor. The dreamy Vallåt efter Måns Olsson (Grazing-ground Song After Måns Olsson) where the guitar folk loops hovers over a distinct African thumb piano. ‘Aventure’ offers more African elements - and three songs with vocals. On the title track Aventure Hassan Bah tells the tale of how he as a 15 years old left his home country of Guinea and eventually more or less accidentally arrived in Sweden ("... now I'm sitting on top of the mountain and looking out over Sweden"). And in concluding Battery where Hassan comments on his recent trip to Africa, in the Zuzu-language and over a high powered psychedelic afrobeat. With ‘Aventure’ Kebnekajse add new pieces to their musical mosaic - Swedish folk rock with psychedelic overtones - now with more African undertones.

RESAN (THE TRIP) (Subliminal Sounds SUB-088-LP)NEW 220:-
Limited edition 500 copies. Facsimile exact reissue with a in-depth biography written by The Amazing / Dungen lead guitarist Reine Fiske and previously unpublished photographs.. The colourful and turbulent late 1960’s created a ground for a world-spanning counter-culture and musical phenomenon that swept all over Europe. In Sweden and in Stockholm specifically, the sign of those times gave rise to diverse politics, anarchistic and playful happenings that all intertwined eventually giving birth to a rather small but highly prolific and unique musical scene. Resan (The Trip) was surprisingly released on the Swedish CBS subsidiary label Epic in 1973 and is the rarest of all the major-label releases within the Swedish psychedelic / progressive era. It has been seen as continuation of the legendary Swedish Life album as it features all the former Life band members. The Resan (The Trip) crew all lived together in a hippie commune outside of Stockholm. The album represents a unique and almost hidden part of the most “heady” Stockholm psychedelic-rock-history. The uniqueness and rarity of Resan (The Trip) is in its blissful but at times dark atmosphere. Strong composition with full band electric instrumentation including some stellar fuzz guitars, spacey flutes etc. Pretty much everything you could wish for in a record like this. The album’s rather splintered musical palette is something of a perfect but peculiar mix of preaching hippie-naivety rooted in the psychedelic late 1960´s, though clearly coming of age in the slightly darker 1970´s.
