BO ANDERS PERSSON: Love Is Here To Stay CD (Subliminal Sounds SUB-087-CD) NEW 109:-
Wow, i'm so stoked to finally announce this archival release we've been working on to get to you for a very very long time....but here it is finally hooray!: The early works by Bo Anders Persson presented on this record were written between 1965 and 1967, before he started the experimental rock band Pärson Sound (and later International Harvester, Harvester, Träd gräs och stenar). Collected on 2 LP discs and housed in a gatefold sleeve including booklet with in depth informative liner notes and pictures. Or a digipack CD with a booklet. All but one track is previously unreleased. "What is the origin of this strange, unplaceable music? What is its place in history, in the unfolding of important conceptual ideas, turning musical modernism into something wider, more mysterious and blurred? From where comes the lightness of touch, and how does the transient nature of the sounds correspond to the sense of mourning hidden within the music? What makes the music so exciting and loaded is the feeling of change, both in the actual performances and in the atmosphere of the rooms where the pieces are played. The sounds move freely within the minimal, repetitive structures. There are spaces for breathing and dreaming, turning inside and outside, and a sense of being in between positions. Suddenly the doors are wide open and radical experiments can take place".
SATURN: Saturn 12" EP (Subliminal Sounds SUB-102-LP) NEW 140:-
Limited edition 500 copies reissue of rare and very special US 70s LP (in fact it's so short it's more appropriately labeled an EP). Includes an insert with the previously untold band history and interviews by Patrick Lundborg (author of The Acid Archives and Psychedelia). Saturn; 1970s Psychedelic “Rhinestone Rock”, featuring an expressive disco-influenced female vocalist, invoking powerful visions of 70s couples under mirrored balls in downtown velvet sofa nightclubs decorated with huge day glow zodiac wall- paintings. Mystic sideshow undertones of occult and science fiction. On a superficial mainstream level, the mid-1970s may appear as one of the music scene’s less exciting eras, dominated as it was by industry-approved repetition of tired formulas. On the regional and local levels however, the situation was different and more exciting. Live music still dominated in clubs, bars and lounges, and thousands of working bands made a living playing gigs on their regional circuits. The traditional model of mimicking recent Top 40 hits had given way to a more complex challenge for club bands, who were now expected to handle a melting pot of sounds that emerged out of the creative explosion of the late ‘60s. One of the more intriguing works to emerge from this next step progression came from a Colorado-based outfit called Saturn, who released a self-titled album in 1978 containing only self-penned material, Intended more as a showcase for Saturn’s talents than a genuine commercial release but within its grooves dwells only outstanding numbers with a rare, magical atmosphere. Despite its genre-transcending originality Saturn’s demo album hardly made a blip on the radar and remains very rare today with only a few copies known among collectors. A very special album you should not miss.

THE NEW ALCHEMY: On The Other Side Of Light CD (Subliminal Sounds SU-B-101-CD) New 109:-
“The New Alchemy is all about Swedish artists Per Svensson and Ebbot Lundberg making dark, intricate, swirling rock psychedlia.” Ebbot Lundberg and Per Svensson had started their careers as artists at the legendary Radium 226.05 in Gothenburg during the swinging 1980´s. Per was releasing soundart and poetry and Ebbot being the lead singer of Union Carbide Productions at that time. During the following decades both guys have been developing their art; Per continuing on as a solo artist and Ebbot as the well known lead singer of TSOOL - The Soundtrack of Our Lives. Now the time has finally come for them to join forces in the New Alchemy. The band is made complete with an all-star cast of Mats Gustafsson (highly renowned musician with Sonic Youth and myriads of other bands), Patrik Caganis (Union Carbide Productions) - We’ve been living parallel lives for a while and sometimes we’ve bumped into each other during the last decades. And now finally we have decided to collaborate and put our ideas, our density and our gravity together /Ebbot Lundberg. - It feels like a groovy alchemic trip. The songs are created in the eggs of the cosmic serpent that uncoils into the year of the snake. /Per Svensson. The concept of the New Alchemy is to mix, and deliver new psychedelia. This will be done with the constellation of cunning artists/musicians followed by more psychedelic live alchemy, a world wide release and live shows. The new album is being released by Stefan Kéry’s wayward music company Subliminal Sounds, that has worked with making Swedish psychedelia a universal concern for the last decades. Sessions were executed at Northern Europe's largest megalithic monument; Ale´sStones(AleStenar)at Kåseberga in the South of Sweden and at the new secret space observatory at Råö situated by the sea on the Swedish west coast south, amongst other places and studios.
KVARTETTEN SOM SPRÄNGDE Kattvals (Subliminal Sounds SW 13 RE)
Black vinyl version 220:-
Purple vinyl version (200 copies) 240:-
First ever vinyl reissue of one of the most sought after, and beautiful, psych rock, progressive pre-jazz rock instrumental albums ever recorded in Sweden. Originally released during the summer 1973 on the obscure Gump label. Powered by a C-3 organ, Ludwig kit and 50-watt Marshall head with a home-built cabinet, the skilled 3-piece band (not a quartet that the band name would have you believe) absolutely soars on this record blasting away fantastically. The delicate use of the studio echo-chamber lends a magical, gossamer reverb to the whole album's sound. Includes a 4-page insert with lots of never before published photos and extensive liner notes by Reine Fiske.
PÄRSON SOUND – 3 x LP BOX-SET (Subliminal Sounds) NEW 440:-
Deluxe triple LP box set. A spectacular archival package of primitive drone and minimalist rock/trance/psych from the Swedish underground, believe the hype as follows; one of the most memorable audio documents ever. After years of research we're proud to present the nucleus of the Swedish 1960's-70s underground psych rock scene: the legendary Pärson Sound. This deluxe 3-LP box set presents the most remarkable Swedish underground band, known in a later incarnation and continuation as International Harvester and Träd, Gräs och Stenar, and features both intricate studio recordings and orgiastic live performances. The recordings date from 1967/68 while the band explored unknown musical territory as well as inner- and outer space. In 1968 they were invited by Andy Warhol to play at the opening of his exhibition: 'Screens, Films, Boxes, Clouds and a Book', at the museum of Modern Art in Stockholm and also opened for the Doors. Influenced by the musical concepts of Terry Riley, Pärson Sound worked at discovering and perfecting their own unique approach towards the mixing of rock and minimalism. They created some of the most remarkable psych- trance-drone-pre-noise music-rock sounds ever recorded. Their key phrase was 'We, Here and Now!' With time, the music came to have an increasing 'religious' or shamanistic streak -- with a raised demand of intensity, presence and warmth -- a striving for euphoria and ecstasy. The bands psychedelic approach towards music is so fresh and vital that it transcends time. Listen to it now! A 3xLP with an informative liner notes in English and lots of photos. Limited edition 500 copies.

ÌXTAHUELE: Pagan Rites (Subliminal Sounds 13 SW) CD NEW 109:-
From the mystical realms of a secluded ancient island, rising from the icy spray of the forbidden northern waters, comes the haunting, savage beat of a mysterious and primitive ritual. In this forgotten place, awash with wonder and enigma, echoing with the booming of sharkskin drums and bone rattles, the rock speaks with the voice of the gods. Weaving strange and terrifying tales, and tales of beauty and joy, Pagan Rites is a breathtakingly exotic tone poem that will make any Tiki bar come alive. ÌXTAHUELE is a Swedish exotica band playing in the acoustic, original style of Martin Denny and Arthur Lyman. They come from Gothenburg; a damp, foggy harbor town that ever since its founding in the early 17th century has been an international melting pot and that has been associated with exotic, faraway destinations ever since the days of the East India Trading Companies. Having grown up with the exciting tales of the sailors and the luscious smells and flavors of the markets, an interest in the romantic and exotic is an integral part of life for the group.Coming from a variety of musical backgrounds, ÌXTAHUELE strive to combine an immersive, research-like approach with their collective experience in jazz, pop, surf, classical, Latin and world music to create authentic, exciting, and innovative world-class exotica. A large part of their inspiration and style clues come from the old greats they are also heavily influenced by classical works, Latin & jazz tunes, indigenous melodies from different regions – in short, the same kind of influences that inspired the originators of the genre. The aim of the group is to provide the perfect soundtrack to bring your mind’s eye on a time-traveling, round-the-world trip; taking you to faraway exotic islands, lost lands, and ancient cities – bringing back the Ottoman Empire, Port Royal, or even the mythical continent of Mu. ÌXTAHUELE try to push the limits of where they can take you while still staying true to the genre; because after all the true armchair traveler can’t make the Hawaiian Village the destination for every trip, but must also go to the Amazon, Micronesia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Indochina. All aboard! Don’t miss this one even if exotica is not your usuall port of call. This stuff will blow your mind!

The debut album from Skogen Brinner is a wasted, slimy, speed freak vortex of polluted proto metal risen from a self-loathing nurtured by an increasingly greasy wasteland called Sweden. Wicked, toxic and manic rock, psychotic vocals, gnarly guitars, cavernous bass and drums beat to a pulp. A quick glare at the cover and you’re savvy on what it's about."The idea is probably to create rotten hard rock with a drive and without too many frills. Maybe you can compare us with a Z-grade flick: bad… but still damn good in a 'strange way." Skogen Brinner consists of four young reprobate souls; Jesper Aronsson - vocals, David Forsberg - Guitar, Joel Carnstam - bass, Jonathan Eriksson – drums, who, despite their situation, are now trying to break the negative spiral of self-destruction with sound therapy."My life is fucking complicated, you’d be surprised." They have played, even if the result sometimes becomes terrible. They have played with each other and with their bodies, with toxins and with their strength. They played with values which society and parents slipped on them.
